Research
My work focuses on unraveling the intricate tapestry of human history, particularly the movements, interactions, and admixture processes that have shaped populations over millennia.
One of my primary interests lies in understanding the genetic impact of significant historical events. For instance, I investigate how the Islamic conquest of Iberia, spanning from the 8th to the 15th centuries, influenced the genetic makeup of the Iberian Peninsula. By contrasting genetic data with archaeological and historical records, I aim to uncover the extent of admixture between different populations and the lasting legacy of these interactions on the gene pool of modern Iberians.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, I seek to bring new insights into the dynamic processes that have shaped human populations, enriching our understanding of the past and its influence on present-day diversity.
